According to an announcement made by the board on Friday, Pakistan has moved Fakahar Zaman up from the Twenty20 World Cup reserves list (October 14). As a result of Usman Qadir’s inability to recuperate from his injury in a timely manner, the southpaw will take Qadir’s place in the 15-player roster.
During the Twenty20 International match against England that took place in Karachi on September 25, Qadir fractured his right thumb in a very minor way. It has been determined that the legspinner is not going to be ready for selection before October 22.
In the meantime, Fakhar will arrive in Brisbane from London along with Shaheen Shah Afridi on Saturday. He will be available for selection in the two warm-up matches against England (October 17) and Afghanistan (October 19), during which the team management will evaluate the left-handed batter’s fitness. England will play the first of these matches.
