IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship is back, as it starts on October 28. The event makes its way back to a location that will have played home to two championship events in the same season: St. George, Utah, which was also the location of the 2021 editions, both of which were won by Lucy Charles-Barclay and Gustav Iden in such commanding fashion.
Preview:
Iden is now also the IRONMAN World Champion, and with LCB having come second in Kona (subject to recovery from those efforts), both athletes have a recent form on their side, which indicates that it won’t be an easy feat for anybody to take their titles away from them.
Gustav Iden (NOR) and Lucy Charles-Barclay (GBR) are the reigning Ironman 70.3 World Champions, but they will face stiff competition from the likes of Taylor Knibb (USA), Sam Long (USA), 2021 Ironman World Champion and Olympic gold medalist Kristian Blummenfelt (NOR), and Olympic gold medalist Flora Duffy (GBR) (BER). Everyone involved will be competing for bragging rights and the top prize of US$350,000.
