Joburg Open 2022: Prize Money Breakdown and Winner’s Purse

With the completion of Joburg Open 2022 today, this month’s run of new European Tour 2023 is over. The South African golf event initiated this November 24 and ran till November 27.

The 2022 edition of Joburg Open was the official 15th iteration of the golf event. Since its establishment in 2007, the event successfully ran annually under the authorization of European tour or DP World Tour.

This year’s Joburg Open saw a 156-player field competing against each other during the initial round. However, only the op-75 players to make a cut were qualified to participate in the final round.

Joburg Open 2022 Purse:

Joburg Open 2022 featured a purse pool of R17.5 million. In euro, the amount is around €1.04 million. This is a mild raise, compared to last year’s €968,760. So, every qualified leaderboard member expected to see an increase on their individual income from the pool.

The champion of Joburg Open this year was Dan Bradbury. He received a reward of R2,773,750. This roughly translates to €167,843.44. However, this is a healthy raise considering the income of last year’s champion Thriston Lawrence which was € 138,981.09.

Runners-up Sami Valimaki received a purse of €108,604.65 amount this year. Whereas Zander Lombard received €90,268.45 from placing 2nd in 2021. The T3 position holders Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Daniel Van Tonder eanred €55,783.30 each. In contrast, the previous T3 holders Ashley Chesters and Shaun Norris received €46,833.01 each.

All of the 75 players to make a cut and earn a placement in the leaderboard earned a share of the purse pool. Therefore, the 75th position holder Jordan Duminy received €1,468.97 this year.
