Beginning with the Butterfield Bermuda Championship 2022, the PGA Tour will spend two consecutive weeks outside of the United States (next week players head to Mexico).
Previous year’s champion, Lucas Herbert, held off a determined Patrick Reed to claim victory at Port Royal Golf Club. The Australian won his first tour championship with help from his solid putting, which is crucial in Southampton. However, he won’t be able to defend his championship since he’s going to Australia for a close friend’s wedding.
This is the tournament’s fourth year overall, and its third as a single circuit stop. In the three previous championships, eight of the competitors have made the cut: Seamus Power, Denny McCarthy, Russell Knox, Brian Gay, David Hearn, Kramer Hickok, and Ryan Armour
John Daly, a two-time winner of a major championship, European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald, and fan favorites Akshay Bhatia and Harry Higgs are all expected to compete.
The winner will get $1.17 million of the total $6.5 million prize pool and 500 FedEx Cup points.
