Kolkata Knight Riders have retained most of the star players bought in the last season. So they did not spend much money in this mini-auction. Shah Rukh Khan’s side spent the most on Tigers all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan among the cricketers bought in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Kolkata bought a total of 8 cricketers in the auction held on December 23 in Kochi. Among them, the franchise spends the most Rs. 1.5 crore on Shakib Al Hasan. No team showed interest in buying the Tiger all-rounder in the first round. In the second phase, Kolkata recruited him to the team at the base price.
The two-time champions spent the second-highest Rs 1 crore behind Namibian all-rounder David Visa. They also bought this 37-year-old cricketer in the second phase at the base price.
Kolkata spent Rs 90 lakh on Tamil Nadu wicket-keeper batsman Narayan Jagdeshan in the auction. The Knights are the fourth highest spenders in this tournament behind 25-year-old pacer Bhaivab Arora. The team owned by Shahrukh Khan spent 60 lakh rupees to bring him into the team.
Meanwhile, they brought Bangladeshi wicketkeeper batsman Liton Das to the team at the last minute for a base price of 50 lakh rupees. Tiger A Batter first got a team in the world’s most popular franchise league.
Besides, Mandeep Singh was also brought to the team by Kolkata for 50 lakh rupees. On the other hand, they took Kulwant Khejroliya and Suyash Sharma in the team for 20 lakhs at a total cost of 40 lakhs. In total, their cost in this auction is only 5 crore 40 lakh rupees.
They kept the 14 cricketers bought in the last mega auction in the team. Due to which they were not very interested in this auction.
