India beat Sri Lanka by 4 wickets in the second ODI on Thursday (January 12) after winning the first ODI by 67 runs. With this victory, India confirmed the series with one match in hand.
Sri Lanka captain Shanaka won the toss and decided to bat at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. However, the opening pair did not go well for the Lankans when they came down to bat. Sri Lanka lost their first wicket by 29 runs. After that, Nuwanidu Fernando made a partnership of 73 runs with Kushal Mendis
But after breaking this pair, no one could pull the team. Losing wickets at regular intervals, the visitors were all out for 215 runs in 39.4 overs. Nuwanidu Fernando scored the maximum 50 runs for the Lankans. Also, Kushal Mendis scored 34 and Dunith Wellage scored 32 runs.
Chasing 216 runs, Team India lost 4 wickets before the hundred runs. However, Hardik Pandya led the team to victory with a partnership of 75 runs with KL Rahul.
Then Rahul made a partnership of 30 runs with Akshar Patel. Rahul left the field winning the team with 64 runs unbeaten. For which he won the man of the match award. The third ODI of the series is next Sunday
